SHILLELAGH

-

The village of Shillelagh and surrounding areas was shocked and saddened when word filtered through last weekend of the sad passing at such a young age of Susan Hilliard.

Susan a Kerry Foods employee and an extremely popular young lady was an active and able participant in our last Strictly Club Dancing venture.

To Susan’s parents Joe and Alisha, partner Thomas daughters Grace and Rebecca, sisters Margaret and A.J, brother Liam and to Susan’s extended family and friends all connected with Shillelagh G.A.A Club adult/juvenile would like to express our heartfelt condolences R.I.P Susan.

The Junior A football team made the long journey to Kilbride/Lacken on Sunday morning last to take on the home side in Division 3 of the league following successive below par displays resulting in defeats to Baltinglass and Coolboy the lads were hoping to get back to something resembling their early season form despite leading by four points at the break and looking to be in control the second period saw the home side finish strong and the end result was a defeat for Shillelagh on a 0-13 to 0-9 scoreline.

It’s all systems go now for the championship and a group that contains An Tochar, Coolboy, Baltinglass plus last Sundays opposition will not lead to easy pickings but hopefully with a full/ fit panel to choose from we can be there at the business end.

Steven Byrne (Miley) underwent knee replacement surgery recently, a veteran of many battles at club and county level we wish Steven a speedy recovery as he recuperates in his adopted Model County.

The old saying you can take the man out of Wicklow but you wont take Wicklow out of the man would be appropriate in this case. All the best Steven.

All the best to all involved in the staging and re-emergence of the Ardeen Cheshire home garden fete which take place on Sunday next July 1 in the Cheshire Home grounds from 2 pm to 6. Plenty of attractions and stalls to whet the appetite of the young and younger, do come along and support and hopefully this can become an annual event in the village once again.

Plans are currently underway for the staging
