Under-14 girls B team at home v TBC on Thursday at 7pm.

Under-12 girls – Our under-12 girls White team had their last home league game on Tuesday, June 19, against Ashford. Although we lost 3-3 to 2-2, the girls put on an excellent second half against the wind. We were especially impressed with the girls battling blocking and support play and they should be proud of their league campaign with one game remaining.

Special mention to our strong leaders on the pitch tonight: Eilis Reid, Aoife Kinsella, Abbie O’Riordan, Asia Duggan, Emma Carpenter, Michaela Garvey and Clodagh Nugent.

Also, a big well done to all the new girls on the panel. Scorers: Abbie O’Riordan 2-0 Asia Duggan 0-1 Clodagh Nugent 0-1. Thanks a mil to Sken and Macaris for the food afterwards and to the mammies for helping in the kitchen. Under-12 girls White away against Clan na Gael on Thursday at 7.30pm.

U10 girls – Under-10 girls travelled to St Pats on Saturday last for the Wicklow blitz. Super performance by all as they played their hearts out in the summer sun. Opposition were AGB, Tinahely and Balto. A win in all three, no stopping them.

Under-8 girls – Under-8 girls travelled to a blitz in St Pats this morning. They faced Bray, Newtown and AGB, winning all three matches in very warm conditions. They future’s bright for Blessington GAA.

Academy – On Saturday, the Blessington GAA Academy hosted a Festival of Fun for all children aged 4 - 6 years of age. It was a glorious hot day and we had a great turn out from the children along with some surprise guests.

The coaches organised fun and games for the children with their parents and then watched a mini exhibition match played by some members of the Blessington GAA Senior men and ladies teams.

After that they were split into teams where they played some games themselves and were managed on the day by those members of the Senior men’s and ladies teams all under the watchful eye of Senior men’s Manager, Paddy O’Connor.

After that there were some more games which involved a large jockey back race and some chasing from the parents and coaches. The coaches had organised two surprises on the day for all the children, which both equally went down a treat. The Sam Maguire Cup managed to find its way from Dublin for a few hours and was present at the end of the event for photo opportunities for all the children as well as a well-earned ice cream to help them cool down.

The Academy coaches would like to especially thank the Senior men’s team who turned up for the event, thelLadies Senior team who send members each week and to all the parents and children who turned up on the day to make it such a memorable day for the club.

Go Games – We hosted under-7 Go Games today with Hollywood and Valleymount as opposition. We had two teams and both teams won their games and the derby match was a draw. Big thanks to Trevor for the visit of Sam Maguire and to the ladies who provided all the teams with refreshments.

Hurling

Michael Dwyers under-15s - A great morning was had in Hollywood for our under-15 hurling team as we hosted Our Lady’s Island, Wexford, our hosts for the 2017 Féile in a friendly game. Fantastic bunch of kids and mentors and a great chance to catch up with everyone and the weather brought back memories of Bagenalstown that year for the semi-final. Michael Dwyer’s 3-10, Our Lady’s Island 0-11.

Under-14 county – Under-14 hurling, Wicklow v Down at the pitch on Saturday at 12.30pm.

Under-9s - Well done to Blessington under-9s who played Leixlip on Sunday. We were missing a few regulars, but everyone got stuck in, it wasn’t easy in that heat. Best today was Joey Dore, Meabh Doyle and Fionn Whelan. All showing some great skills. See everyone at training Thursday.

Hurling Go Games – Away against Kilcoole on Friday, June 29, at 7pm.
