Wicklow Swimming Club
It was a mild evening on Wednesday, June 20, but the wind created some chop in the harbour for our mid-week swims.
Seventeen youths were in the water first swimming a course within the harbour for the Garda Cup. Abby Horner took 1st place followed by Mia Cowdrey in 2nd and Sadhbh Dolan in 3rd. 78 Seniors also swam a course within the harbour competing for the Bank of Ireland Cup. It was a warm sunny morning at Wicklow Harbour on June 24 with calm sea conditions. 238 swimmers took to the water to compete.
The Junior sprints were up first with 73 swimmers competing in the following races; Under 6 Boys: 1st Dara Colohan 2nd Tom Doyle 3rd Joe Elder Under 6 Girls: 1st Aoife Quinn 2nd Maria O’Dwyer 3rd Anna Kravchenko. Under 8 Boys:
1st Sam Czwalina 2nd Eoin Treanor 3rd Kyle Doherrty. Under 8 Girls: 1st Hannah Tracey 2nd Ruth Connolly 3rd Lucy Carey. Under 10 Boys: 1st Des Brennan 2nd Hugh Keaney 3rd Daniel Sheridan. Under 10 Girls: 1st Niamh O’Neill 2nd Mei WilsonMa 3rd Kate Tracey. Under 12 Boys: 1st Deaglin O’Neill 2nd Colm O’Neill 3rd Hedley Butler. Under 12 Girls: 1st Caoimhe Doherty 2nd Juno Cherry Roberts 3rd Ella Kelly. Under 14 Girls: 1st Ellie Mai Brennan, 2nd Moya Kelly,
29 juniors were back in the water, swimming for the Leonard Cup; 1st Colm O’Neill, 2nd John Aherne. 3rd Juno Cherry Roberts. 26 Intermediates swam for the Cleary Cup; 1st Niamh Waters, 2nd Amy Noble, 3rd Andri Kravchenko.
16 youths competed for the Cleary/ O’Neill Cup. 1st Bonnie Bell King, 2nd Dylan O’Donovan, 3rd Ross O’Loughlin. 94 seniors swam for the Sean Kelly Memorial Cup; Jan-Ove Kristiansen took 1st place with Padraig Cahill coming home in 2nd followed by Maebhe Connolly in 3rd.
