Burden of rising insurance costs
RISING insurance costs for businesses is having a devastating on competitiveness and profitability of SMEs throughout County Wicklow.
That’s according to Fianna Fáíl TD and businessman Pat Casey who said that as a result, Ireland is ‘sliding down the competitiveness rankings’. He claimed that Government is doing nothing to help matters and said that many concerned business owners in the county have raised the issue with him.
‘Day in day out, business owners and leaders are crying out for action from the Government on the issue of rising business costs, rising motor insurance costs, and rising public liability costs. In some cases, I know of businesses in Wicklow who genuinely wonder whether they can afford to pay the massive premium or simply carry on without insurance,’ he said.
