Wicklow rowing Club enjoy super St Patrick’s day

WICKLOW Rowing Club enjoyed a super day’s rowing at the St Patrick’s regatta in Ringsend last weekend.

The club’s Senior ladies team finished in second place in their race. The team was: Louise Dunne, Caroline O’Neill, Bernice Dunne and Valerie Scanlon with Nukey as cox.

The club’s novice men’s team clocked up their third win of the season when John Healy, Philip Dunne, Mark Nicholes, Aeron Flattery and cox Shay Dunne stormed home to victory ahead of St Patrick’s.

There was also a win for the Junior ladies team of Leona Franey, Dayna Keogh, Paula Keating, Debbie Higgins and cox Mark Nichols who contested a neckand-neck finish with St Patrick’s.

The club’s under-12 girls did superbly well for their first race. They rowed a great race, very enthusiast­ic little rowers and are the future of the club ageing from 8 to 10 years old. The team was: Chloe McEvoy, age 10, Ella Murphy, age 10, Kate Dunne, age 8, and Molly Higgins.

The under-16 boys claimed second spot in their race. The team of Calum Doyle, Taylor Ryan, Connor Doyle, Craig Nolan, and cox Mark Nichols rowed superbly well on the day.

The club sent three teams to compete at under-14 level and the squad of Adam Kelly, Adam Goucher, Jack Keogh, Luke Olohan, and Michael Keogh cox proved successful on the day.

The team of Shane Carlin, Jack Smyth, Paul Docherty, Kian Conlin, and Mark Nichols cox finished in third and directly behind them came the third team of Alexander Gallet, Dilanas Maziraskas, Noah Hanahoe, Ciaran Carey, and John Healy cox in fourth.
