INDOOR BOWLS
Indoor bowls in Glenealy village on Wednesday nights is now finished for the summer and will be back in September, start date will be posted here nearer the time. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who took part in the bowls and hope to see you all back in September.
BLESSING OF THE GRAVES
The blessing of the graves takes place on Saturday, July 21, at 3 p.m. There will be refreshments afterwards in Glenealy village hall courtesy of Glenealy Tidy towns. Donations of home baking would be much appreciated and can be dropped to the hall from 1 p.m. Your support would be much appreciated.
FOROIGE YOUTH CLUB

NEWTOWN JUNIORS FC
Just some information regards when all our teams will resume their on field action.
Under-8s, 9s and 10s will return the weekend of September 9. fixtures will be set till weekend 17th/November 18.
Where Leagues finish early as in end of Sep, start of Oct, the WDSL will look at a shield competition for these age groups.
All Fixtures Competitive and Non-Trophy will finish weekend of November 17/18, followed by the WDSL Awards, Presentation Day in the Parkview Hotel Sunday, November 25 (details times etc to follow in October).
The under-11s website has been updated with Champions League Groups (Format) Fixtures Set for Group Stages, four groups in each, top two in each group into Cup Quarter Finals, Bottom two in each group into Plate Quarter Finals. Group Stages will be Home and away Q/F, S/F and Finals winner on the day. (WDSL will look to run finals on neutral grounds)
The WDSL will be hosting/running a number of invitational tournaments for different age groups over the summer and the details are as follows:

Newtown Juniors will hope to run their popular Mini World Cup competitions in the lead up to the restart of the WDSL season.
We have two players from our under-12 team celebrating birthdays in the coming week and they are Grace Murphy and Jack Coughlan. Happy birthday Grace and Jack from everyone at Newtown Juniors FC.

BLESSING OF GRAVES
The annual Parish Cemetery Sunday/Pattern Sunday will take place on Sunday, July 22. Please note that 11.30 a.m. Mass will be celebrated in Roundwood Cemetery not in the church on this morning. This Mass will be offered for all interred in the cemetery and will include a blessing of the graves.
NATURE WALKS
Join the Wicklow Mountains National Park Guides on a children’s nature walk at 11 a.m. on Wednesdays in July and August to explore various aspects of the National Park. Suitable for all age groups. An adult must stay with their children and be prepared to join in. No booking or charges apply. Meet at the Information Office near the Upper Lake in Glendalough.

AFTERNOON WITH MARY DAVIES
Mary Davies is a renowned author, gardener, historian, books editor and a former resident of Oldbridge. She has written extensively over the years about the wonders of Wicklow of times past and present. As part of the Baltynanima Pure Mile, we are delighted to include this event where Mary will read a selection of her writings about Wicklow and there will be an opportunity for the audience to ask her questions. The talk will start at 3.30 p.m. in Roundwood Parish Hall on Saturday, July 21, and will finish by 5 p.m. This is a free event. All welcome.
OUR LADY’S ISLAND
There will be a pilgrimage to Our Lady’s Island on Sunday, August 19, leaving Roundwood at 10 a.m. from the Parish Hall. Cost is €65 per person which includes the bus, scones and dinner. Money and names to Susan at 087 76273032 before August 1.

MUSIC IN CALARY
The next concert in Calary Church will take place at 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 22, when Lorna Breen (soprano), Andrew Gavin (tenor) and Mairead Hurley (accompanist) will perform opera arias, Irish airs and pieces by Gilbert and Sullivan. Lorna is an accomplished young soprano from County Wicklow.
This concert is being held to raise much needed funds to support Sister Mary Killeen’s work for street children in the slums of Nairobi and there is the option of a delicious supper in the church room before the concert starts. The supper will begin at 6 p.m. and the concert will start at 8 p.m.

The Roundwood Whizzers Walking Group will now meet at the Knockraheen entrance (Newtown Road R765) to the Upper Vartry Reservoir at 7 p.m. every Wednesday for the summer months.
