However, it will not affect the brilliant Horse Show to much it is hoped and everyone will have a wonderful weekend of events for locals all on same weekend. Families could come to the show on Saturday for an active day getting ‘up close and personal’ to animals, giving their children pony rides, entering the family dog is the friendliest dog show in Ireland, face-painting, photography etc. not forgetting the fabulous Irish Horse breeds all on show, the obedient pony competition, the children’s fancy dress, the ‘style and appearance’ competitions.

Lots of volunteers from Local Charities act as Safety Stewards as safety always comes first at Kilmacanogue Horse Show but it’s a lot of work stewarding a 40acre site and making sure horses, ponies are kept to separate walkways away from people, prams, dogs and wheelchairs.

This year volunteers from several charities join the Irish Kidney Association, who have acted as safety stewards at Kilmacanogue Horse Show over previous years. Volunteers from Bray Purple House Cancer Support, Spinal Injuries Ireland, Newcourt School and Bray Lakers will be donning hi viz vests as official Horse Show safety stewards and working hard to keep everyone safe as well as happy on Saturday, July 28.

And a last-minute reminder for all you Riders, parents and Instructors avoid disappointment – enter online for Kilmacanogue Horse Show urgently.

The pony classes are filling up fast and you can still enter online to secure your place in your favourite competition. Although people can enter competitions on the day it is advisable for pony and horse competitions to enter online. This saves valuable time on the day as last-minute grooming always counts and takes longer than planned. Classes such as the very popular ‘Obedient Pony’, ‘Style and Appearance’ are split by age to accommodate large numbers of young competitors. Be sure of your place and enter at kilmacanoguehorseshow.com.

The next concert in Calary Church will take place at 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 22, when Lorna Breen (soprano), Andrew Gavin (tenor) and Mairead Hurley (accompanist) will perform opera arias, Irish airs and pieces by Gilbert and Sullivan. Lorna is an accomplished young soprano from County Wicklow.

This concert is being held to raise much needed funds to support Sister Mary Killeen’s work for street children in the slums of Nairobi and there is the option of a delicious supper in the church room before the concert starts. The supper will begin at 6 p.m. and the concert will start at 8 p.m.

Tickets for the supper and concert are €40, while those for the concert on its own will be €18 and €15 for concessions and cam be booked from John 01 2818146 or by emailing derekneilson@ eircom.net.
