Kilrush Drama all set for ambitious production
AS part of a programme of events planned to welcome Canadian visitors this month in conjunction with the Canadian/Coolattin Connection, Kilrush Drama Group will present Flight to Grosse Ile play.
This is an ambitious production and is about an Irish family forced to emigrate to Canada at the height of the Great Famine.
There is more than 50 characters involved in the production. The cast includes actors, musicians, singers and dancers. Playing the two main lead roles are Timmy Connaughton and Kate Power with a huge back up of supporting actors including, Jimmy Spellacy, Lar Duffy, Martin Hayden, Maurice Ruth, Garry Lombard, Kieran Tyrell, John Young, Fergus Garrett, Seamus Burnell, Richard Kimmons, Margaret Nolan and Eddie McGlynn to name just a few.
Paddy Byrne on sound is playing a key role in the preparation as most of the dialogue and music is being pre-recorded. Paddy’s expertise in this area is paramount to the success of the production.
Another key element of the production is the music for which Lar Duffy is responsible.
Also paramount to the pro- duction is the lighting for which Kevin McEvoy’s expertise will come into play.
The play will take place on Thursday, July 19, and Friday, July 20, in St. Brigid’s Hall, Carnew, at 8 p.m. Admission is €10.
