BRAY BOWLS

-

The week just ended was full strange happenings in the world of bowls.

We have all heard of rain stopping play but this week we had our version of the Ash Crisis when our Division 2 game against Clontarf was postponed on Saturday last due to ash landing on the green from the Gorse Fire on Bray Head and also the smoke circulating around. The game was refixed for last night (Tuesday).

Before the ash crisis struck our Division 4 team travelled to the league leaders Greenhills last Monday night and returned with 1 point courtesy of Pat Raftery’s rink. The team are holding onto third spot in the league.

The ladies were in action last Wednesday against the league leaders Crumlin and in a magnificent performance they won 5/2 and inflicted the first defeat this season on the runaway league leaders. Well done to all concerned.

As usual all 3 Vets teams were in action on Thursday and Vets 1 went down 1/3 away to a strong Dun Laoghaire team.

Vets 2 got back on the winning trail away to Westmanstown with a 3/1 win where John Cheevers led his rink to an impressive victory.

Vets 3 gave an outstanding performance at home to Dun Laoghaire where they took all 4 points with Eoghain Brady and Aidan Galvin skipping their rinks impressively.

Our Division 1 boys travelled to Kenilworth on Saturday last and got 2 points.

This week has the ladies away in Rathmines on Wednesday against Leinster and Division 6 at home to North Kildare.

Thursday has Vets 1 at home to Greenhills, Vets 2 at home to Blackrock and Vets 3 away to
