Relays during Regatta Play Cafe

-

All teams wishing to take part in the relay races organised by Inbhear Dee Athletic Club must have submitted their entries by Friday, July 27.

The club will host a number of relay races and loops along 1,100m of the seafront path in Wicklow town from 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, as part of the Wicklow Regatta Festival.

There will be three divisions in each race: female, male and mixed. Clubs, firms, groups of friends young and old are all invited to participate.

Each runner will run a loop of 1,100m before passing on the baton to team member. Enter a team by contacting Noreen O’Reilly on 087 2330403 or noreenoreilly@gmail.com, or message the Inbhear Dee facebook page.

There will be a junior race for participants aged 19 or under, a primary schoolers, race and an open race.

There will also be short Shuttle Relays for younger kids. Some of these races may be run together, depending on numbers of teams.

A play cafe will operate from Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day right up until August 17 in the Methodist Hall in Wicklow town.

Popular last summer with families, the return of the play cafe will give parents/carers a chance to come and have a coffee or tea while the kids play.

An honesty box will be in place for donations but people are also encouraged to shop local and bring their own snacks.

Games, jigsaws and craft bags are available for the older kids and there is a soft play area for the little ones.
