THE Gaelic Plant Hire Cup is well underway and it has already thrown up a few humdingers of results.

It is hosted in Enniskerry Youth Club’s marvellous facilites and sees eight teams - six of whom are Wicklow based - divided into two groups.

In Group 1, there is hosts Enniskerry YC and Wicklow Cup finalists Glencormac United, plus out-of-towners TEK United and Knocklyon United.

Group 2 pits Bray AFC, Ashford Rovers, Greystones United and Ardmore Rovers against each other. Enniskery and Glencormac kicked things off and it was the Kilmac men that were in the driving seat as efforts from Ian Devlin and Cian McGoldrick either side of an own goal had them 1-2 ahead heading into the final quarter hour of the game. Enniskerry would rally and run out 5-2 winners though as Darren Forsyth (2) and Dean Mooney found the mark to swing it in their favour.

On Sunday, Andy McEvoy Premier champions Ashford Rovers suffered a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Bray AFC while Ardmore Rovers and Greystones United played out an entertaining 1-1 draw.

Glencormac United bounced back in spectacular fashion on Monday as they trounced TEK United 4-0. While McGoldrick and Devlin netted for them on Saturday, it was time for the youth to shine on Monday as Sam O’Callaghan, Josh O’Callaghan, Dean McCormack and James Delahunty bagged their strikes.

Enniskerry YC made it two wins from two as they edged out Knocklyon 3-2 courtesy of efforts from Adam Kinsella, Paul O’Reilly and Karl Mulligan.

Last night (Tuesday), there was a local derby as Bray AFC locked horns with Ardmore Rovers while Ashford Rovers went head-to-head with Greystones United.

The final will take place this Saturday at 6pm.
