Our senior ladies A team continued their recent good run with an excellent 3-1 away win over Broadford last week. Niamh O’Brien nabbed a brace to bring her tally in the goal scorers charts to ten, Leanne Sullivan scored her first of the campaign to ensure all three points were heading back to Whitegates as they continue their assault on the inter 2 title.

The club are currently seeking a manager for our senior men’s A team who will be playing in the Leinster Senior Saturday section for the 2018/19 season. The senior end of the club have resumed training, the seniors train in the Rocky Road on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.30pm, the senior team will be plying their trade in the Saturday section of the Leinster Senior League for the coming 2018/19 season, new players welcomed.

Wicklow Rovers AFC promote soccer for schoolboys/girls, youths and seniors, men and ladies in the community, our club is growing all the time and any assistance with the help of running the club would be very much appreciate­d. board and help out. If fundraisin­g isn’t your thing there is plenty of other ways to help out. Don’t just assume someone else will come forward, come along and help the club progress, all help no matter how big or small would be very much appreciate­d. The club are running another football camp in August due to popular demand, it will take place from Monday, August 20, to Friday, August 24. The camp will take place at Whitegates and will run from 10am to 2pm daily. The camp is open to both boys and girls from four years old to 13 years old and the cost is €50. Every participan­t will receive a ball at the start of the camp and a medal on the final day of the camp. The club’s weekly junior soccer academy continues every Saturday morning (weather permitting) under the watchful eye of senior club coach Johnny Dunne. The academy takes places on the all-weather pitch on the club grounds at Whitegates and is open to all kids from the age of 3 years to 8 years. The academy starts at 11am and finishes at 12. There is no need for registrati­on, so you can come along to any week that suits. Come along and learn the skills of football while having fun and enjoyment, it’s a great way of meeting new friends as you learn the skills as you get prepared for the introducti­on to participat­e in organised league football in the coming years.

The under-15s defeated UCD 3-0 last Friday at the Academy Grounds. Goal scorers were Darragh Lynch (2) and Corey Dunbar Byrne. The under-15s are at home to Sligo Rovers on Sunday, July 29. Kick off at the Academy Grounds in Carrickmin­es is 2.00pm.

Lotto draw - There was no jackpot winner on July 22. Numbers drawn were 4, 6, 10, and 22. €30 lucky dip winners were Lenny Lennox c/o Charlie Kavanagh, Grace Carton c/o Charlie Kavanagh, Mary McDonnell c/o Stephen McDonnell. Next jackpot is €9,825. Lotto tickets are on sale in the club shop at all home games and you can also play the Bray Wanderers lotto online through our website.

World cup Competitio­n - The winning team in the Members Club World Cup goals scored competitio­n was Belgium who finished the competitio­n on 16 goals. The winning players in the competitio­n were John Keating and Robert Hubbart who both win €160. neutral grounds. The WDSL will be hosting/running a number of invitation­al tournament­s for different age groups over the summer and the details are as follows:

The WDSL will be Inviting DDSL teams, Carlow teams and Wexford teams to enter, there will be a limited number of places available so if interested clubs must put forward their interest sooner rather than later.

Weekend of July 28/29, under-10s and under-12s girls blitz (seven-a-side) for girls born 2008 and 2006 in Woodlands, Greystones.

Weekend of August 11/12, under-8s/9s blitz tournament and under-10s/11s blitz tournament (both seven-a-side) at Celtic Park, Arklow.

Weekend of August 18/19, under-14/15 tournament for players born in 2004/2003 at Whitegates/ Finlay Park, Wicklow.

We had our ‘Golden Goal’ coupons out for the World Cup Final between France and Croatia, won by the French on a 4-2 scoreline. The results were as follows:

Newtown Juniors will hope to run their popular Mini World Cup competitio­ns in the lead up to the restart of the WDSL season.

We have only the one player from the club celebratin­g a birthday in the coming week and he is Bogdan Rusu from the under-14s team.
