Penston family to take part in Réalta agus Gaolta final

-

ARKLOW will be rooting for its most famous musical family as they take part in the final of the TG4 talent show Réalta agus Gaolta this Sunday.

Naoimh Penston and her daughters, Amy and Leah, made it through a number of rounds in recent weeks to reach the finale of the popular Sunday night show, which sees members of the same family perform for a panel of judges and a live studio audience.

At the semi-final, Amy and Leah faced a singoff to secure their place in the final and their rendition of The Prayer sealed the deal for them.

They now look forward to the final episode where they will sing Men of Éireann, a song written by Avoca native Ian Byrne of The Elders, and Don’t Forget Me and find out if they have won the overall title.

‘It has been a wonderful experience for us and it has been a beautiful catalyst to get us all singing together again. We haven’t really done so since the Forget Me Not Concert in 2014,’ said Naoimh.

The trio decided to sign up for the show after a callout on Facebook and have spent the past few weeks in and out of the TG4 studios taking part.

Once the show is over, the Penstons will return to their busy working schedules. Naoimh will return to the Penston Vocal Academy, Leah will be back in rehearsals for a production of Fiddler on the Roof and Amy will be balancing gigging all over the country with theatre work.

The busy women are also planning a concert in the coming months. Viewers will have to tune in to TG4 at 8.30 p.m. on Sunday, August 5 to see how the Réalta agus Gaolta final goes.
