DO A TRIATHLON AT BRITTAS BAY TO SUPPORT ST CATHERINE’S!

-

IT’S time to dig out the wetsuit and dust off the bike and running shoes for St Catherine’s Association.

The association has been helping people with disabilities in Wicklow for over 40 years and is looking for members of the public to sign up for this year’s Sporting Proud Triathlon on Saturday, September 1, at Brittas Bay.

Trevor Dagg, whose daughter Robyn attends the services at St Catherine’s, will be taking part and is urging others to participate.

‘It doesn’t matter if you are fit or not so fit – please register and help raise much-needed funds for St Catherine’s,’ said Trevor. ‘It’s a fun day. There is an Olympic length event for the serious athletes and for others who just want to support the St Catherine’s charity there is a sprint or shorter event’.

Entrants can do the entire triathlon or form a team of three and complete one leg each.

The Olympic length event involves a 1.5km swim, 40km cycle and 10km run, while the Sprint or fun event is just a 750m swim, 20km cycle and 5km run.

‘Individual entrants are asked for a €100 registration fee with a fundraising target of €250 and teams of three have a €300 registration fee with a target of €600, but we are hoping some can exceed that. We are also urging companies to form teams to compete for St Catherine’s,’ said Trevor.

All funds raised will go towards the refurbishment of a number of the St Catherine’s buildings and the development of a new activity facility for the children.

To register go to https://sportingproud. org/register and select ‘St Catherine’s Association’ as your charity of choice.

To donate or fundraise to cover your registration fee, You can set up a JustGiving page online at www.justgiving.com/sportingproud.
