Luisne seeking ideas for centre

- BY MARY FOGARTY

LUISNE IN Kilcoole is asking people to come forward with ideas as it makes plans to operate as a centre for well-being.

The programme was very much reduced last year due to the sale of the venue but Luisne is now embarking on a new phase of life.

Since the Holy Faith Convent in Kilcoole was sold last summer, Luisne has continued to operate in the Georgian house and grounds on a limited basis thanks to the goodwill of the new owners.

Luisne as an organisation, while incorporating its original ethos, is now expanding its horizons and will operate as a centre for well-being. One change will be that it will governed on more ‘democratic’ principles with greater involvement of the community,

To this end, Luisne will meet with as many groups as possible from the feeder areas in planning for its future. These meetings will be lively, entertaining, interactive and creative and will include the offer of tasty, healthy titbits.

This evening, Wednesday, August 8, from 7.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m., any potential tutors and all who could use Luisne for running courses or events are invited to attend a meeting at the centre. On Saturday, August 11, from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., potential participants and anyone interested in shaping Luisne’s future is invited to attend.

Also in August, the Georgian house and walled garden will feature in Heritage Week.

On Saturday, August 18, from 12.30 to 5 p.m., there will be a tour, photo exhibition, and finger foods served by 18th century staff in costume. Admission is €5 for an adult or €10 per family.

The support for Luisne in the past has been heart-warming and greatly appreciated. It is hoped that involvement and ideas generated from tutors, participants, volunteers and donors will continue and grow in the future so that the future will hold truly enriching experiences for everyone. Anyone wishing to attend should email office@lusine.ie or phone 086 0517575.
