Rehearsals to begin for next Carnew show

THE curtain will rise on Carnew Musical Society’s production of the classic musical My Fair Lady this winter.

Rehearsals will commence next month for the show which will run from November 26 to December 1 in St Brigid’s Hall.

My Fair Lady is a musical based on George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion, with book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. This will be Carnew Musical Society’s second time to present this show, having performed it in 1994.

The production team for this year are director Michael Dunbar, musical director Lar Duffy and choreograp­her Frances Ryan.

The lead role of Eliza Doolittle will be played by Joanne Logue and Henry Higgins will be played by Rory Robinson.

Sean Hallahan, who played Higgins in the 1994 production, will play Colonel Pickering and John Young will play Alfred P Doolittle.

Mrs Higgins and Mrs Pearse will be played by Jennifer Byrne and Mandie O’Keeffe while Professor Zoltan Karpathy will be played by Malcolm Byrne and Freddy Eynsfort Hill will be played by Padraig D’Arcy.

Mrs Eynsfort Hill will be played by Eileen Tormey McCabe and Harry and Jamie will be played by Paul Doran and Jimmy Spellacy.
