Hollywood get the job done on Enniskerry Big scalp for the west men

Centre back, Ross Tyrell made a mazy run through the heart of the Enniskerry rear guard and dispatched another point which was quickly followed up by corner-back Kevin Cullen fisting over a point as Hollywood tore Enniskerry apart, now leading 1-3 to no score with four minutes played.

Gavin Barton won a free for the east coast side and Rhys Cope pointed for their opener in the sixth minute.

Colin Tutty replied with a monster of a point in the next attack.

Enniskerry slowly settled into the pace of the game and applied some pressure, but some resolute defending by the Hollywood defence stood firm.

Centre forward Gavin Barton was influential in all Enniskerry’s build up play. Gavin landed another pointed free,before he knocked over a long range point in the next attack after good work by Jack Conroy.

Another defender, Conal Byrne, landed Hollywood’s fifth point of the evening to close out the opening quarter with the score 1-5 to 0-3.

Hollywood wasted a number of chances with some poor shot selections in the next period to put the game to bed.

Craig Williams broke up the midfield dominance by the home side, however Enniskerry could not find the target with their final touch.

It was end to end all out attacking football with some smashing block’s and clearances by each side.

Hollywood finished out the final ten minutes with some wonderful interlink play.

Jack Cullen who was flying, landed an outrageous point, from the sideline for one of the scores off the evening.

Enniskerry were staying in the hunt courtesy of frees, as Brendan Barton pointed another placed ball after some persistent fouling by the home defence.

Hollywood hit back immediately with points from Nathan O’Sullivan and the evergreen James Mooney who was brilliantly put through by Brian Flynn for a goal chance, but Mooney pointed to keep the score board ticking.

Gavin Barton split the posts from an acute angle - another contender for score of the night - after good work by Owen Corrigan.

Jack Cullen fired over the last point of the first half with the score reading 1-10 to 0-5 in favour of the homeside.

The second period started a bit scrappy as both defences were on top in the early stages. A couple of yellow cards were dispatched as players from each side got to know each other personally, with no quarter asked or given.

Enniskerry were battling well, but could not add to their tally as they missed a couple of score able chances at this crucial stage.

It wasn’t till the 50th minute that the opening score of the second period arrived with a great point from the boot of Craig Williams for Enniskerry.

Again, Gavin Barton popped over a point before substitute Liam Callinan pointed.

Brendan Barton raised a green flag after been put through by as Colm Nolan as Enniskerry whittled the lead down to four points as the home supporters became somewhat worried.

However, once again the Hollywood immediately responded in the next attack.

Brian Flynn crashed a free off the crossbar and James Mooney was in like a light for the killer blow, as Hollywood’s second green flag of the evening was raised.

Brendan Barton closed out the game with a brace of points. Enniskerry will have to regroup to play Avondale, in what is a must win game now for the black and amber. Hollywood, with all their score’s from play, now are top of the group, will look forward to the visit of AGB in the next round, where a win or draw will put the green and gold into the knockout stages of this championship, where they have been knocking on the door for in recent years
