Co Wicklow PPN hosts training fair in Laragh

-

THE Co Wicklow Public Participation Network (PPN) Training Fair ran its biggest event to date on Saturday in the Brockagh Resource Centre.

Ten workshops ran throughout the day on subjects such as charities regulation, how to manage volunteers, social and digital media, GDPR, safeguarding children in sport, community projects in action, planning for success, the governance code, garda vetting and recycling and waste management.

Helen Howes, Resource Worker with Co Wicklow Public Participation Network (PPN) said: ‘We are delighted that our training fair has been so useful to community groups and the great volunteers we have in our county. We were particularly pleased with the networking opportunities between groups and support organsiations and between the support organisations themselves. There seemed to be huge learning and shared experience as well as the development of friendships and collaborations. Attendees indicated that it was such a good day that it should happen annually, but we’ll have to wait and see about that’.

Elly Fairbairn from the WEB Women’s Group in Bray said: ‘It was a really good day with lots of information and very good workshops’.

There were also 17 information stands from organisations that can help community groups with training, funding, insurance, and various other supports.
