NEWTOWN JUNIORS

-

All our teams had matches last weekend apart from the Under-10s whose game away to Carnew fell victim to the heavy overnight rain.

The Under-8s played away to Wicklow Rovers Blue and our teams proved too strong on the day.

Among those that starred on the day were Colin Healy, Theo Messitt and Jack Gavin.

Our Under-9s hosted St. Patricks and despite a rather one sided game on one of the pitches in the first game the other seven games were much much closer.

On the day, Albie Chance, Jack Barlow and Alex Ryan starred.

It was another narrow victory for the Under-11s as they edged out Enniskerry White away by 4-3. Jake Robertson scored another treble and Brooklyn Doyle also scored in a good team display.

It was another even game for the Under-12s as they hosted Avonmore B and it was a late goal in the second half that gave the away side all three points in a 1-0 win.

For Newtown it was a day where they had good possession but too often the final pass in the attacking third was missing.

Edward Valentine, Iggy Szpilka and Jamie Fitzgerald were among those who tried hard for the home side.

Arklow Town arrived in Newtown looking for a win to secure the Division 1 league title and after a titanic game full of goals and drama they got the required three points.

We congratulate Arklow on their league win and commend our team for making sure that if Arklow were going to win it they had to earn it.

Our team can take a lot of positives from the game but they will also know that they need to
