FOOTBALL CLUB NOTES

Our three game unbeaten run in the Junior C Championship came to an abrupt end in Ballinakill on Thursday when we lost to Kilcoole.Ws started without star forward Tommy Dwyer, who was out of the country and finished without full back Colm Toomey and half forward Darren O’Neill, both with red cards. We got a side line ball after 20 minutes with the sides level. Shorty stepped up to take the free but the Kilcoole man refused to hand over the ball so Shorty got possession the old way. Unfortunately the referee did not agree and handed over a red card. Straight away the bottom fell out of our team and we were well beaten. Losing Darren O’Neill to another red card did not help matters either.

On Saturday in Blessington our intermediate team had a big win over Ashford in the last game in the championship. Minus six of the team that lost to Ballymanus, it seems as if we had the wrong team out that day. Saturdays team was: Ray Halloran, Kevin Osbourne, Alan Tutty, Ger Healy, Brendan Daly, Joe Whyte, Conor Kelly (0-1),Brian Lennon (1-1),John Hanbidge (0-1) Liam Mullen (0-5), Alan Daly (0-5) Seán Brannigan (0-1) Colm Osbourne (.-2), Niall Curran (0-2), George Finlay (1-2).

There was no lotto winner last week so the jackpot now stands at €3,900. Last week Mary Doyle, Mollie and Alfie Toomey matched three and won €67 each.
