GOLF SOCIETY

Jacobs Well Golf Society played its sixth and final event of the 2018 season at Bunclody Golf and Fishing Club on Sunday September 9. The event was to have taken place on August 26 but was cancelled due to bad weather. As always the Society was warmly received by the Club and the course was in excellent condition.

Luckily the weather was good and the 18 members who turned out all had a great day’s golf. The winner of the Category 1 Section was Cormac Redmond with 36 points and Anthony Doyle won the Category 2 section with 31 points. Tom Donnelly was best on the front 9 with 18 points and Caroline Browne took the back 9 with 19 points. Alex Sheehan had the longest drive on the day. Prizes for “nearest the pin” on the Par 3 holes were awarded to Alex Sheehan (2) Caroline Browne and Robert Doyle

Prizes were presented at the club by Chairman Artie Byrne. Special thanks to Mick Leonard for organizing the event on the day and to the staff at Bunclody Golf and Fishing Club for their hospitalit­y.

FIREWORKS RAFFLE

The lucky winners in the Fireworks Raffle were Eddie Kennedy, Geraldine McGraynor and Ciaran Carton. Congratula­tions to the winners and thanks to everyone who supported the raffle.

WHIST

The winners at the last whist drive were: Top Score: N Vickers and C Driver, second and third shared: J Vickers and P O’Flaherty; M Haughton and R Murphy and fourth: M Murphy and G Curran. Raffle winners were G Curran, N Vickers and C Doyle. Next whist drive is on Wednesday, September 19, at 8.30 p.m. at the Anne Devlin Annex.

YOGA

There are yoga and Deep Relaxation classes held every Monday morning from 10 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. in the RDA Hall. Beginners and intermedia­te welcome.

PARNELL MEMORIAL PARK

At the September meeting of the RDA Committee it was decided that a height restrictio­n will be put in place at the entrance into the Parnell Memorial Park. Work will be carried out over the coming months.

WEDDING BELLS

Congratula­tions are extended to Jacqueline Nolan and Martin O’Toole, who were married a short time ago and celebrated their wedding last Friday with family and friends at Jack Whites, Brittas Bay.

BINGO

Bingo continues every Friday night at 8.30 p.m. in the RDA Hall.
