LIFETIME VOLUNTEER AWARD Jimmy Olohan
JIMMY OLOHAN has dedicated much of his life to the development of his home town, Rathdrum, and is therefore a very worthy winner of a Lifetime Volunteer Award.
He was one of the founding members of the Rathdrum Development Association which has been so crucuial to the tight-knit Rathdrum community down through the years.
Jimmy spearheaded the development of the beautiful Parnell Memorial Park, which is regarded as a jewel in the crown of Rathdrum. An urban park commemorating the life of Charles Stewart Parnell, the park is set out with green areas and walkways and also incorporates a 1916 garden, a playground and outdor gym, along with memorials to the Millennium year and Wicklow 400.
In addition, Jimmy recognised the lack of parking in the town and led the way in the development of a car park free of charge to both visitors and locals alike.
To this day Jimmy still mows the green spaces around the town and is very much a fixture of life in Rathdrum.
