ST. GERARD’S School ran the second Interschools Show Jumping competition of the season on Saturday, September 15, in Boswell Equestrian, Ashford, Co. Wicklow.

They were so lucky to have a gorgeous dry day for their annual event. There were six Open teams competing for the coveted St. Gerard’s Trophy. Two of which finished on zero faults after the first two rounds; Dominican College, Wicklow; (Ella Mulvey riding Gurteen King, Naoise O’Neill riding Rocket Celt, Aoife O’Leary riding Primo Miss and Jessica Phelan riding Ludocick) and St. Gerard’s Blue Team (Claire Fisher riding Inspector Hilda, Harriet Bernon riding Miss Poppins and Emma Ward riding Best Buddy).

All four of the jump-off riders had one fence down each; Naoise O’Neill and Aoife O’Leary for Dominican College and Claire Fisher and Emma Ward for St. Gerard’s School, but in the end Claire Fisher and Emma Ward were just too fast and St. Gerard’s Blue team of Claire Fisher, Harriet Bernon and Emma Ward managed to be triumphant and bring home the St. Gerard’s Trophy.

Not only did they win the trophy back but they were also presented with lovely rugs, which were kindly sponsored, by O’Reilly’s Auction Rooms, 126 Francis Street, Dublin 8.

The Turn Out prize for the Open team competition went to St. Gerard’s Green team; Blathnaid Boyd, Faye Durkan, Isabelle Owens and Alanah Turner.

The Open Individual competition was won by Claire Fisher from St. Gerard’s school, who won a very generous voucher sponsored by Tredstep Ireland.

The Novice competition was very busy with 14 teams competing for the first prize of fabulous The St Gerard’s riders from the interschools competition in Boswell: Blathnaid Boyd, Adah Lynch, Harriet Bernon, Isabelle Owens, Emma Ward, Faye Durkan, Alanah Turner, and Indie O’Donohoe. Tredstep vouchers. Six teams managed to get into the jump off with only two of them ending on zero faults at the end of the jump off, who were Blessington Community College (Paige Conway riding Diesel, Jessica Sheridan riding Salis, Jessica Flood riding Dakota and Katelyn Lynham Clarke riding Joey) and St. Mary’s Arklow (Ella Devereux riding Lara’s Setanta, Naomi Devereux riding Lookout Karuk, Maeve Magee Katz riding Cruising Home and Sunita Jackson riding Little Hobbit). But in the end Blessington Community College won by a nail biting 0.80 seconds.

The Novice team Turn Out prize went to St. Gerard’s School Gold team of: Indie O’Donohoe, Shannon O’Farrell, Adah Lynch and Pippa Deveraux – who also came third in the team competition.

The Novice Individual competition was the most popular event of the day with 45 entries altogether. There was a terrific atmosphere with all the competitors hoping to win the first prize of a Tredstep Voucher! In the end it was Ella Anderson and her pony Woodfield from Loreto Foxrock that took home the first prize.
