-

International Tournament

MATTHEW TYNDALL from Arklow Boxing Club caused a few heads to turn on Saturday night when he defeated England’s hotshot and European champion George Bance in an Ireland v England international in Athy.

On Friday night, Bance showed his punching power when he stopped Ireland’s rep in the first round with solid right hooks.

On Saturday night, Bance started aggressively, attempting to walk Matthew down and use his punching power.

Arklow’s Matthew used his jab well but the English boxer scored with some good combinations to take the round.

In the second round Matthew caught the English boxer with brilliant straight rights and visibly shook him to win the second.

With the bout even, it was Matthew who used his ring craft to keep the English boy off and scored with good left jabs and solid right crosses. Matthew was the deserved winner and both boys got a massive ovation from the crowd.
