Very first Coolgreany Vintage Day attracts a crowd of over 2,000

- By SARA GAHAN

THE very first Coolgreany Vintage Day held last weekend has been described as the most successful event in the village this year with an estimate of 2,000 visitors.

‘We could not be happier with the day,’ said Dan Kennedy, chairperson of Coolgreany Vintage Club. ‘The money we raised will be donated between North Wexford Hospice Homecare and Coolgreany Tidy Towns.’

There was a huge number of vintage tractors, smaller engines, vintage cars and a few stationary engines.

Dan said the children had great fun at the carnival, bouncy castle, the pets corner and face painting.

‘We had volunteers do traditions that date back a good few years ago,’ said Dan. ‘In one area we had bread making over an open fire and the old way of washing clothes.’

Around the field there was a variety of different stalls that included bric-a-brac, antiques, arts and crafts, and homemade goods. Dan said some of the stall holders came from afar to attend the event.

Because of the huge demand for it next year, the club are already planning the Vintage Day for 2019.

The Coolgreany Vintage Club said they would like to thank all who attended, the volunteers who gave a hand, to those who sponsored the event and to all who donated.

Dan said it was definitely one of the best vintage days he has seen.
