Peace walk to raise funds for Glencree

THE second Annual Glencree Peace Walk which will take place on Sunday, September 23 in the Wicklow hills near Glencree.

Walkers from Wicklow and beyond still have the chance to sign-up for the walk and support peace-making initiatives organised by Glencree.

The 10km Glencree Peace Walk was launched last year to coincide with International Peace Day and raises both funds and awareness for Glencree, Ireland’s only centre dedicated to peace and reconciliation. This year’s walk has already attracted new participants including the German Ambassador to Ireland Deike Potzel with additional walkers signing up every day from across the country.

Former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern will officially start this year’s event at 1 p.m.

Suited to walkers of all skill levels, the funds raised on the walk go to support the significant work of Glencree in the areas of peace, support for those in direct provision and to help create the next generation of peacebuilders.
