NEW ROSS ARKLOW 12 48

THE Arklow boys were on the road to New Ross last Sunday morning in this Leinster Premier League Qualifying match.

With a reduced squad, newly recruited players were called into action and they were not found wanting.

Arklow showed urgency to their play from the kick off and piled pressure with great fowards play.

Camped deep in the New Ross half the home team refused to relent until new signing Roan Frehill forced his way over the line to get Arklow onto the scoreboard with 10 minutes gone.

Continued pressure from Arklow led to two more tries by Oran Kelly and Chris O’Brien, and it was yet another new boy Conor Gahan that kicked the conversion for Arklow to lead 0-17 at half-time.

New Ross returned the favour immediately after half time to score a converted try after some indecision in the Arklow back line.

However, this spurred the away team into action and another try from man of the match Oran Kelly settled Arklow.

Even though its only October, Oisin Beirne may already have scored the ‘Try of the Season’ with his gather inside the Arklow half and running through the entire New Ross team to touch down a gem of a try midway through the second half.

Arklow now turned on the style with a massive effort by Zander Davis and scores through Chris O’Brien, Calvin Kirya and Luke Doyle with Conor Gahan converting three more times.

New Ross travel to Arklow this weekend and the boys will need to be on their guard from a team looking to overturn this result.

Well done, lads.
