Extraordinary ideas at evening in Whale

-

For those bored of the ordinary, ‘An Evening of Extraordinary Ideas’ will take place at the Whale Theatre on Saturday, November 17, featuring a broad range of performances, talks and discussions.

Curated by Wicklow native Brian O’Regan, the show boasts a stellar lineup of performers and speakers, including sharp-witted comedian Danny O’Brien, daring musicians Alex Petcu and Lina Andonovska, ground-breaking movement from Rob Heaslip Dance and much more.

Based on the concept of ‘Extraordinary Ideas’, Brian describes the programme as ‘a fusion of ideas – all of them extraordinary in their own particular way. From Danny O’Brien’s hilarious, thought-provoking ideas to the mind-blowing performances of Alex, Lina and Rob – everything here is based on a truly extraordinary idea and I’m absolutely delighted to be able to bring all of these ideas together in one evening!’

Fresh from sell-out performances at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Danny O’Brien will have his wit seriously finetuned as he turns his comedic attentions to the Wicklow audience.

The combination of Alex Petcu and Lina Andonovska brings together two fearless innovators in the world of contemporary classical music. Alex Petcu is a multi award-winning Irish percussionist of Romanian origin and this extraordinary collaboration with critically acclaimed Australian flautist Lina Andonovska will make for a truly awe-inspiring experience.

Striking performances will also come from Scottish/Irish dance group led by Rob Heaslip, who will present a workshop performance of his new work, A Glimpse of Flesh & Blood.

A panel of high profile festival directors and arts leaders will lead a discussion on the arts and cultural sector in Ireland and Theatre Lane will show off its own ‘Extraordinary Idea’, with guided tours of the new Boutique Loft Apartments with interior designer Sharon Ryle. These will take place from 6.30 p.m. before the event begins at 7.30 p.m.
