SHEEP DOG TRIALS

A reminder that the sheep dog trials will take place on Thursday, November 1.

MASS OF REMEMBRANC­E

Our annual Mass of remembranc­e – Service of Light will take place on Saturday, November 3, at 6 p.m. This Mass is for parishione­rs, who died between September 15 and September 14 and whose funerals took place from either Roundwood or Moneystown Church. There is a Remembranc­e Mass in February 2019 for Parishione­rs/Former Parishione­rs, whose funerals took place in other Parishes.

SALE OF WORK

Roundwood and Moneystown Christmas Sale of work will take place in An Tochar GAA Complex on Sunday, December 2, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. A great day out for all the family with something for everyone. All donations for the various stalls will be gratefully accepted and can be left with Maureen in the parish office between 9.30 and 1 p.m. (Mon-Thurs) before November 29

THANK YOU

We would like to thank all those people who supported the Art Night in the Roundwood Parish Hall and in particular those who participat­ed in the art class. It was a very successful night and we raised in excess of €1,500.

We would also like to thank the local businesses who donated Raffle Prizes – Djouce Golf Club, Dunnes Stores, SuperValu, Synnott’s Butchers, The Wicklow Heather and Wicklow Tyres. A big thank you to all those who helped on the night and also Seán Kenna, who provided the PA system and Noel Brady, who provided the music. A big thank you to everyone.

TABLE QUIZ

A date for your diary. Roundwood Golf Society will hold thier annual table quiz Night In aid of Roundwood senior citizens Christmas party which will take place in Kavanagh’s Vartry House on Friday, November 2, at 8.30 p.m. Your support will be appreciate­d. Items required for Spot Prizes/Raffle Prizes. All donations will be gratefully accepted.

CANDLE LIGHT WALK

A Halloween Candleligh­t walk will take place on Sunday, October 28, at the the Vartry Reservoir. Registrati­on is at 6 p.m. at Roundwood Soccer Grounds €10 per family, refreshmen­ts available, Fancy Dress optional, All proceeds shared between Roundwood District Community Council and Roundwood AFC.

DIAMOND BRIDGE CLUB

Taking first place for North/ South on Monday the 15th were Monica Brady and Catherine McGillycud­dy, second Maria Magee and Judy Skates, third Ger Lenihan and Rowena Brady and fourth Kay Plunkett and Mary Pierce. Margaret Bolger and Paddy O’Brien were first for East/West second Maura Gaskin and Margaret Byrne, third Brid Clancy and Catherine Halligan and fourth Phil Power and Nancy O’Brien.

Monica Brady secured first place once again on Friday morning this time with regular partner June Digby, second Maura Gaskin and Bridie Nolan, third Noeleen Redmond and John Loscher and fourth Catherine McGillycud­dy and Nancy O’Brien. Ger Lenihan and Paddy O’Brien scored best for East/ West Marion Davis and Teresa Leahy were second, third were Liz Belton and Phil Kenna and fourth Rowena Brady and Maria Magee.

CONGRATULA­TIONS

Congratula­tions to all involved in the Baltynanim­a Pure Mile who, out of 60 entries across Co Wicklow and South Dublin, took the top prize in the 2018 Pure Mile Awards in the Brook Lodge Hotel last night.

The residents did Trojan work over a three mile stretch of road including coordinate­d litter picks, walks and talks and researched local history – all of which is recorded on their website and compiled into a fantastic final report. New permanent interpreta­tive signage was also erected along the route with grant aid from Creative Ireland through Wicklow County Council.

Morning badminton has resumed on Tuesday morning from 9.30 p.m.

Set dancing in Kavanagh’s every Thursday night from nine till 11 p.m.

It is proposed to have our November car boot sales on the second Sunday of the month on November 10.

ROUNDWOOD WHIZZERS

Roundwood Whizzers Walking Group are back in action meeting at 7 p.m. every Wednesday at the Coach House car park. All welcome to walk at your own pace for approximat­ely one hour.
