Arklow Celtic go on scoring spree

Arklow Celtic certainly had their shooting boots on on Sunday as they put Conary United to the sword in their Pat O’Toole Division 1 clash.

Celtic ran out emphatic 8-1 winners, with Shane Walker, Lee Doyle and David Kavanagh all helping themselves to doubles and Kevin Moorehouse and Mikey Doyle adding a goal apiece.

Table-toppers St Anthony’s shared the spoils with second-placed Greystones United after a 2-2 draw. Alex Ward and Patrick Woods scored for the saints, with Colin Deeney and Cillian Brosnan replying.

Graham Heaney, Conor Smith, Alan McBride and Gerard Earls got goals for Arklow United B as they edged out Wicklow Town by the odd goal in seven.

Division 3

Dearg Celtic continued their impresive start to their Division 3 campaign when they hit Aughrim Rangers for six on Sunday.

Craig Browne (two), Alan Power, Alan Hudson, James Cullen and Niall Garvey all hit the back of the net for the Redcross men in a 6-1 win, with Pearse Lawlor grabbing a consolatio­n for Rangers.

Shamrock Celtic showed no mercy to Ballywaltr­im as they ran out emphatic 10-2 winners, scoring five goals in each half.

Aidan Small contribute­d a hat- trick, Glen McCarthy added a double, while Alan Coady, David Shortall, Kevin Coady, Scott Meaney and Tom Duffy also got in on the act.

Chris Sillery netted a treble for Ashford Rovers B as they won 5-1 away to Avonmore B.

Seán Beale and Jay Farrell got their other goals, with Steven Wall replying for the hosts.

Roundwood proved to strong for Arklow United C, running out 3-0 winners.
