Anyone for tennis at Wicklow club?

-

REACHING out and encouraging new people to try tennis is the name of the game at Wicklow Tennis Club this week.

Both the ‘Ladies into Tennis’ and ‘Tennis for the over-60s’ initiatives begin at the club this week. The programmes are supported by Wicklow County Council and there are still a few spaces left for the over-60s. Anyone interested in taking part should contact the club.

In addition, the club is running another ‘Enjoy Tennis’ programme with members of the Blue Dolphins Special Olympics Club while social tennis, which is open to anyone who would like to give tennis a try, takes place next Monday at 7.30 p.m. Anyone planning on attending is asked to let the club know if advance.

The under-18 boys first team beat Donnybrook 1 in a close quarter final in Naas on Sunday and will now take on Sutton 2 at home this Sunday at 4 p.m. The ladies first team has made it through to the quarter final of the Floodlight League and will play against Clontarf 2 on Tuesday, November 13. Wicklow Tennis Club will host the finals of this League on November 27.

One-hundred-and-twenty members will battle it out in the Cullen Butcher Turkey Tournament over the coming weeks before two teams (ten per team) go head-to-head in the final on Friday, December 7.
