following up to slot home. Tullamore put Rovers under pressure but they held out to the break.

Two minutes into the second half Tullamore levelled proceedings with a well taken goal.

Tullamore went in front on forty five minutes when Ryan Kenny rifled home a twenty five yard free kick.

The Offaly side put the game out of Rovers reach nine minutes from time with a neat finish into the bottom corner.

Rovers battled hard to try to get back into the game but they came up against a resolute Tullamore rearguard.

On the day the lads gave a hundred percent, a special mention goes to keeper Rory Hennessy who pulled off several top class saves and was absolutely outstanding between the Rovers posts.

All in all it was a magnificent achievement for the lads to get to an All-Ireland final and they did everyone involved proud.

Well done Keith, Stephen, Danny and the lads on a great achievement.

Our under-16’s qualified for the final of the Choice Media Bowl final when they defeated Roundwood 5-3, a brace from Thomas O’Neill and singles from Dylan Moriarty, Matthew Quinn and Ben Algera laid the foundations for the win to capture the three points and smoothly progress to the final.

Our Last Man Standing competition moves onto round 7 next week, after the weekend’s games we now have 47 players definitely through with another two players hoping to join them if Huddersfield saw off Fulham in the Monday night game in front of the Sky TV cameras.

Of the players to progress 17 players went through after Chelsea beat Crystal Palace 3-1 at Stamford Bridge. Everton’s 3-1 home win over Brighton safely saw 12 players make the next round. Leicester’s emotional 1-0 away victory over Cardiff helped seven players through with a further six players joining them after their selection West Ham got the better of Burnley winning 4-2. Manchester City’s comfortable 6-1 home success against Southampton eased three players into round 7. Manchester United and Tottenham both provided one player each with a safe passage through after their 2-1 and 3-2 away victories over Bournemouth and Wolves respectively.

At the time of going to print we had only lost five players and they made their exit after their selection Watford went down to a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Newcastle.

We would like to wish all our remaining players the very best of luck in the remainder of the competition and once again a big thanks to everyone who participated in our Last Man Standing competition. had to revert to Plan B and play their game with Arklow Town White indoors (Futsal).

After a great morning’s football among those who starred for Newtown were Sebastian Anton, Ryan Collins, Pat Carey and Aidan Heffernan.

From Saturday, 10th November we will be indoors with the group (same times). Due to the lack of space in the surrounds of the Sports Hall it may not be possible for all parents to view training inside the playing area. Also due to the large numbers attending any players failing to attend for a number of weeks may have to wait until spaces in the squad become available.

At the moment we have a large number of boys and girls attending each week and thankfully at the moment we have the required coaches needed but we wouldn’t say no to a few more volunteer coaches.

If you think you can give an hour or two each week please contact our Secretary at the contact details below.
