WICKLOW ROVERS

-

The senior men took on league leaders Ardmore Rovers in Ballywaltrim on Saturday and were unlucky to lose a seven goal thriller losing out on a 4-3 scoreline.

This was a game that could have went either way and the lads will look back and think they should have taken something from the game.

Ciaran McGettigan, Gareth Murphy and Adam Cox fired home the goals on the day.

Junior action in the club started on Thursday night when our 14A’s had a comfortable 9-0 win away to newly promoted Arklow Town A.

Jordan Younger found the back of the net with a fantastic hat-trick, Harry Broxson and Mark Hodgkinson both nabbed a brace apiece with Tom Hodgkinson and Callum Gibney completing their tally with singles.

On Friday night the under 12B’s defeated Arklow United 6-1 under the floodlights at Whitegates.

Eoin Kennedy fired home an incredible five of the Rovers six goals with Luke Dunne adding one in a very impressive team display.

The 12A’s have put themselves in a very strong position to claim the league title when they beat one of their nearest challengers Dalkey United in their own backyard.

The lads won 4-1 with goals from Liam Burke, Brian McCaul, Lorcan Sinnott and Danny Kavanagh.

This was a highly impressive team display and now leaves the destiny of the title in their own hands.

The 15A’s suffered a title setback when they lost 3-1 away to Portmarnock AFC. Mark O’Brien scored the Rovers goal in a game in which the lads never reach the high standards they have set themselves.

On Sunday our under 13A’s travelled to Dalymount Park home of League of Ireland side Bohemians to take on Tullamore Town in the Lions Club All Ireland cup final.

The lads found themselves up against a physically bigger Tullamore side but the early exchanges were even enough.

The midlanders gradually got on top and Rory Hennessy in the Rovers goal came to his side’s rescue with three top class saves.

Rovers took the lead midway through the half when Oscar Malcolmson’s shot was parried by the keeper with his brother Louis
