GAA CLUB NEWS

Our deepest sympathies to the O’Loughlin and Byrne families on their very sad loss. We also wish to sympathise with the Collins and Lalor families on the passing of John. Thanks to everyone who helped with the work done in the football field last weekend.

BOWLS CLUB

The members of Annacurra Bowls Club extend their sympathy to the Dalton family, Annacurra on the death of their father Tom Dalton RIP Tom and his late wife Betty were loyal members of the bowls club from the time in was set up in 1998. After Betty’s death 12 years ago, Tom put up a cup (Betty Dalton Memorial Cup) in her memory. A competitio­n is played for it every spring. The members of the Annacurra bowls club had a guard of honor from Hazel Hill to the church on Friday evening for his removal to the church. He will be sadly missed by all his colleagues and all who knew him. May he rest in peace.

The bowls season as usual with bowls in the Community Center every Thursday ans Sunday night at 8 p.m. This Sunday night we are doing the draw for the Christmas turkey Competitio­ns. Hopefully everyone will be available to take part.

REMEMBRANC­E MASS

In November, we remember. Rememberin­g loved ones who have passed away is a special focus in November.

A Remembranc­e Mass will take place in St Kevin’s Church, Kilaveney, Tinahely at 7.30 p.m. on Saturday, November 10. If you have lost a loved one during the last 12 months and whose funeral Mass was celebrated in St Kevin’s Church, your family is invited to this Remembranc­e Mass.

We will also remember Parishione­rs’ loved ones whose Funeral Mass took place elsewhere during the last 12 months. All are warmly welcome to join in this Remembranc­e Mass to remember family, relatives and friends who have gone home to our Lord. Please give the name of your loved one to a member of the Pastoral Council, so that a candle may be available to you during this special Holy Mass. Please include your own name and contact details.

COLÁISTE BHRÍDE DOES STRICTLY

Coláiste Bhríde’s Strictly Come Dancing will take place on November 15 at 8 p.m. Tickets will be available in the school, from the PTA, from any of the dancers or by phoning 086 8500607 between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tickets will also be on sale in Gregan’s shop, Coolboy, Tinahely post office, and Aughrim post office.

TINAHELY WALKING CLUB

Details of Tinahely Walking Club Sunday walks for the next two weeks: November 11: Kaideen, B, 10-12km, three hours. Meet at Tinahely 10 a.m. November 18: Croghanmoi­ra, B, 12km, three hours. Meet at Tinahely 10 a.m. or Aughrim 10.15. As usual, please ensure to wear proper walking boots, to bring adequate food and drink and to pack (or wear) rain gear.

RISE AND SHINE WALK

Coláiste Bhríde’s ‘Rise and Shine’ walk up Sliabh Bhuí, will take place on Friday, November 9, at 6 a.m. Students will be walking back to school. Motorists, please be vigilant on the main road from Askamore to Carnew.

TABLE QUIZ

Shillelagh Area Community Games Committee will be holding their annual table quiz with raffle prizes on Friday, November 16, at 9 p.m. in Parkview House, Shillelagh to raise funds for their 2019 program. Entry fee is €40 per table of four. If you don’t have a team don’t worry, they will find one for you on the night. For further details find the event on Facebook.

CABARET

The annual cabaret for Tomacork will be held on Friday, November 16, at 9 p.m. in the usual venue, music by John Flood, admission only €5, all welcome.

NOVEMBER FAIR

The annual November Fair will be held on Friday, November 16, at 7 p.m. in Carnew Community Care with the usual stalls, Boutique second hand shop, home made treats, toys, books, Brie a brac, mini raffle, monster raffle, bottle stall, all welcome admission free.

MY FAIR LADY

Just a few more weeks for the cast and crew of Carnew Musical Society to put the polishing touches on their 52nd production, My Fair Lady based on Pygmalion by George B Shaw, book and lyrics – Lerner and Loewe. The show will be performed in St Brigid’s Hall, Carnew from Monday, November 26 – Saturday, December 1. Coupled with a great storyline the show includes many favourites including, Wouldn’t it be loverly, I could have danced all night, Get me to the church on time, The Ascot Gavotte, On the Street where you live and With a little bit of luck to name but a few. Priority Booking, sponsor and Super Sponsor Tickets are now available.

The cost of staging musicals is very high and Carnew Musical Society would not be in a position to stage Musicals without the continued support of local businesses and patrons for their sponsorshi­p and patronage. Priority Booking tickets (which replaces the Associate Membership ticket) will be available from all committee and cast members at a cost of €17 each and will entitle you to priority booking for each seat purchased.

Heartiest congratula­tions to Sabrina Doyle and John Roche, who were married over the weekend. We wish them a lifetime of health and happiness together.

The Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh will be collecting clothes in aid of the centre from Monday, November 5, to Friday, November 9. You can drop in your clothes bag throughout the week up till midday on the Friday. Thank you for your support.

TIDY TOWNS

Representa­tives from the village attended a recent function in Brooklodge to acknowledg­e the efforts with the Pure Mile project (from Ballard wood to the village). Hopefully, more work will be planned to enhance this stretch of road next year.

In order to celebrate our impressive results in the recent Tidy Towns competitio­n and also to announce the winners in the kerbside garden competitio­n, a get-together is planned for Friday, November 16, at 9 p.m.

Call Master Kenneth Wheatley at 087 2547347 for further informatio­n. Classes are on Tuesdays at 7.45 p.m. to 8.45 p.m. (seniors and teens). Children’s classes are on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. to 6.45 p.m. (4-7 years), 6.45 p.m. to 7.45 p.m. (8-12 years).

GO FOR LIFE

The group meet most Tuesdays, so if you fancy a chat, a cuppa and some light exercise, bowls, music come along on at 11 a.m., they welcome any newcomer. The group meet for lunch once a month at various venues. For further informatio­n, call Denise at the Brockagh Centre at 0404 45600 or drop in.
