AUGHRIM GAA

Aughrim GAA Club will hold their annual race night and social event in Joe O’Toole’s on Saturday night next November 10 starting at 9 p.m. This is always a great social night for players and all club members. Please come along and support what should be an enjoyable night for all.

Our AGM is scheduled to take place on Friday, November 30, in the complex, more details next week.

Best wishes to Christy O’Brien, who is recovering from a knee operation. We hope to see Christy out and about soon and back in training.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

Yoga will be back on Tuesday, November 13, for three weeks. Please have a payment of €15 in an envelope on the day. We are having a day’s Christmas shopping trip to Newbridge on November 29.

THRIFT SHOP

New to You Thrift Shop are appealing for donations of saleable goods – bric-à-brac, clothing, small pieces of furniture toys etc. If you have something that you have no further use for but feel it would suit someone else please donate. The sale of the goods goes towards the upkeep of the Pavilion, Fishing Park and the village of Aughrim. MASS OF REMEMBRANC­E

The Vigil Mass on Saturday evening, November 10, at 8 p.m. in church of the Sacred Heart will be celebrated to remember parishione­rs who have passed away in the last year. Parishione­rs wishing to have a family member remembered at this Mass should leave their name with a member of the parish pastoral council in the church sacristy.

SHOEBOX APPEAL

Like to give a little joy and love to a needy child this Christmas? The Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal gift does just that. We here at the Avoca Heritage Centre are hoping to get a few boxes tosendover,allyouhave­todois choose a boy or a girl, age group 2-4, 5-9 or 10 to 14 years old, get your shoe box wrapped (box and lid separately) and please include €4 donation for delivery costs to get your box to child.

Items allowed are – items for school pens/pencils copy book etc – wash items soap, toothbrush etc – clothing items socks, hat etc, toy items skipping rope, toy car, sweets (in date to 04/19) etc. Items not to include liquids, chocolate etc. If anyone would like any more informatio­n or interested in sending a box call into Avoca Heritage Centre or check our Facebook page. AVOCA HERITAGE CENTRE

Most of all, Coolgreany Drama would like to thank all those who turned up in such great numbers to be entertaine­d by the nine shows. Coolgreany would not have a festival without these stalwart drama supporters.

They would also like to congratula­te all the festival award winners and wish the best of luck to all the groups from around the country taking part in the all-Ireland drama circuit this month.

These groups include Coolgreany Drama itself, which began its all-Ireland circuit journey at the weekend in Letterkenn­y and Ballina with its production of Mr Foot, Directed by Sally Stevens and featuring Maggie Murphy and Niall Hunter.

Coolgreany’s next major production at St Mogue’s, Inch will be Juno and the Paycock, by Seán O’Casey, directed by Ned Dempsey, running from January 24 to January 27.
