Carnew’s massive charity gift

- By SARA GAHAN

The Carnew Heritage Club presented a total of €13,500 to three local charities last week in Kenny’s Corner House in Carnew.

The proceeds were raised through the ever so popular Carnew Heritage Working Day held in September, which ran in conjunction with Carnew Emmetts GAA new venture The Garden County Country Fest.

The charities – Talk to Tom, South East Cancer Trust and Friends of Local People with MS, received €4,500 each from the committee.

The annual Working Day was stretched out over a weekend this year with lots of entertainment throughout the three day festival such as music from Theresa & The Stars, Dancing with Declan, a fun fair and much more.

‘The GAA Club benefited from proceeds on Saturday night while the profits from the Heritage Day was divided among our three charities,’ said committee member Kevin McEvoy.

Kevin said they also handed over a cheque for €750 to Carnew Community Care which was raised at their annual vintage road run earlier this year.

The group has raised over €100,000 for local charities since it first began in 2015.

Carnew Heritage Club would like to thank landowners, sponsors, spectators, exhibitors and the many volunteers who helped make everything possible on the day.
