Glenart girls’ give Pieta House a boost with charity bake sale
STUDENTS at Glenart College used a school project to raise funds for a worthy cause recently. Naomi Crinion, Abbie O’Reilly and Gabrielle Werder chose Pieta House as the beneficiary for their LCA Social Education project.
As part of the project, they organised a mental health talk for first year pupils in partnership with The Vault youth centre.
They also hosted a charity bake sale which raised €100 for Pieta House.
The focus of their research was creating a safe space for open dialogue on depression and anxiety; prevention of suicide and raising awareness of warning signs; plus practical solutions as to how to communicate with someone you are worried about. Thus, their project was very valuable to the rest of the student community.
They identified Pieta House early in the project, as a worthy recipient of funds raised. The proceeds were presented to Jimmy Myler of The Vault on behalf of Pieta House.
