Workers welcome plan for cemetery

-

THE CO-ORDINATOR of the Old Kilbride Cemetery clean-up operation has welcomed news from Wicklow County Council that an action plan is soon expected from the landowners.

Jennifer Kavangh who has been managing the Tús scheme at the site for a number of years said that she was heartened to learn that during a discussion at a recent Arklow Municipal District meeting, it was outlined that the owners Lincor Developments, indicated that a plan to address the poor condition of the site is being drawn up.

‘I was delighted to see that there is a plan to come and that they realise that during the past seven years, much has been done. However, much more must be done at the site,’ Ms Kavangh said.

‘The damage that has taken place there during my time as supervisor has horrifed me and filled me with sadness. A visit to Old Templerainey Graveyard and Templemichael Graveyard show that this is not happening in other burial grounds,’ Ms Kavangh said.
