There was a great turnout for the RNLI charity night on Wednesday, January 23, with both rooms full of enthusiastic players. The event, the Maureen O’Shea Memorial Cup, raised €745 for the RNLI and this was presented to officials from the local branch by Phyllis Kavanagh. First place went to the husband and wife team of Eric and Dorothy Levingstone; in second were Una Ryan and Una McGowran; and third place went to Marion O’Shaughnessy and Norma Sommers.
The winners on Thursday, January 24, were Jackie Taylor Fogarty and Janet Devin. Celine Healy and Irene Maher took second place while Robert Downes and Brendan Blake were in third.
On Friday, January 25, it was Cyril Goode and Joe Kelly with the highest score, followed by Eric and Dorothy Levingstone in second place and Edward Kilcoyne and Leonard Murphy in third.
On Monday, January 28, first place in North/South went to Marie Vickers and Berni Hamilton, second went to Jane Bradshaw and Jo Winters, and third spot went to Robert Doyle and Tony DeCourcy. In East/West, Pauline Earls and Marion O’Shaughnessy came first, with Norman MacLachlan and Marie T. O’Sullivan in second and Josephine Roche and Kay Smullen in third.
