Hallowe’en Festival to bring some scares to Arklow town

-

ARKLOW is set to take a terrifying turn as the town’s third annual Hallowe’en Festival takes place this month.

Ghouls, vampires, zombies, banshees, ghosts and goblins are all expected to make a beeline for the south Wicklow town and the fearsome festivities it has planned.

The highlight of the festival, organised by Arklow Municipal District, has always been Hallowe’en night itself and, this year, they are hoping to make the street parade, staged event and fireworks on Thursday, October 31, bigger, better and more spook-tacular than ever before.

The theme of the staged event will be ‘If You’ve Got It...Haunt It’ and people of all ages are encouraged to join in the night’s celebrations and wear some kind of fancy dress.

Meanwhile, business owners are being urged to decorate their premises to contribute to the spooky atmosphere.

Arklow Municipal District will be running a competition for the most original and exciting displays as a way of recognising individual efforts, community spirit and creativity. Judges will be looking out for the overall quality of the display; original use of materials; best use of a display to advertise the business; best paintings; best details (especially the really creepy bits) and of course, the spookiest.

Any community or sports groups interested in getting involved in the parade or businesses wishing to register their window displays should email ArklowMD@wicklowcoco.ie or phone 0402 42700.
