WETSS students make trip to Leinster House Men’s Shed

-

HEALTH Minister Simon Harris welcomed students from a new Wicklow secondary school to Leinster House for a tour of their parliament and to meet their local representative about the development of the school.

Wicklow Educate Together secondary school is a new school sanctioned by the Department of Education to meet the demand for places in the Wicklow area. The school opened in August at temporary accommodation at Crinion Park in Wicklow town. Minister Harris met the staff and students of the new school to discuss the progress and offer assistance in the development of the school as it goes forward.

Minister Harris said: ‘I was delighted to welcome the new school, Wicklow Educate Together secondary school, to Leinster House this week. It is so important that our young people learn about their parliament and their democracy. The new school is a very welcome addition to our local education community and our priority now must be to ensure the patron engages to select a site and get the permanent school built as soon as possible. I look forward to working with the principal, staff and board to progress the development of the school.’

Roundwood Men’s Shed is open every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Pat Carr’s place in Knockraheen.

With all the cake and biscuits it may not be the best place to ‘shed’ a few pounds but everyone is learning to control their intake of sugary ‘stuff ’. Of course there are very healthy vegetables available in the garden. So you will be assured of a very warm welcome if you are free to drop in. Ring
