BrookLodge among Gold Medal Awards winners

A WICKLOW HOTEL is among the winners in a prestigiou­s national awards.

BrookLodge and Macreddin Village won the Ireland’s Menu Provenance Award at the 2019 Gold Medal Awards. The hotel was also shortliste­d in the Ireland’s Guest Experience Award category.

Now in their 31st year, the Gold Medal Awards are the leading independen­t awards for the Irish hospitalit­y industry and aim to recognise and celebrate the outstandin­g achievemen­ts of the hotel and catering sector throughout the country over the past twelve months.

Armada Hotel in Co Clare was named the Supreme Winner (sponsored by Hotel and Catering Review) at the gala ceremony held on September 24 in the Lyrath Estate, Co Kilkenny.

Commenting on the winners, Katherine O’Riordan, event director said: ‘The standards of excellence remain predictabl­y exceptiona­l across the country and our judge’s job remained equally difficult. I would like to extend my heartfelt congratula­tions to all our finalists and winners.’

BrookLodge and Macreddin Village was also highly commended in the Outstandin­g Guest Experience category at the Georgina Campbell Irish Food and Hospitalit­y Awards 2019. BYRNE’S Londis in Aughrim was honoured at the recent 2019 Londis Retailing Excellence Awards.

The awards recognise stores that excel across all areas of store performanc­e.

Peter and Teresa Byrne from the Aughrim store said: ‘We are thrilled to receive this prestigiou­s award which is testament to the extremely hard working team that we have in store. This accolade is not only a mark of pride for our store and staff, but importantl­y it shows our customers’ that we are passionate about delivering a top quality service. This is a very important point of differenti­ation in what is a very competitiv­e marketplac­e and we’re honoured to have received this award.’

This year’s awards were held in the Europe Hotel and Resort in Co Kerry.

The stores were independen­tly examined across a range of criteria including customer service, the quality of their fresh food offering, product range, and the store’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of hygiene and food safety. Byrne’s Londis in Aughrim received their award in recognitio­n of their commitment to implementi­ng high standards throughout their store and providing excellent customer experience to their local community.
