Chamber Awards a resounding success
A CELEBRATION of the accomplishments of many local businesses took place in Tinakilly Country House on Friday night as Wicklow and District Chamber of Commerce held its annual Dinner Dance and Awards Night.
The black-tie event took place inside the Great Eastern Pavilion and the great and good of the local business community gathered in anticipation of the announcement of this year’s winner.
Best Retail Award, sponsored by Wicklow County Council, was presented to Kelly’s Fruit and Veg in Wicklow Town. The runner-up was The Sports Room.
Kelly’s Fruit and Veg were praised for their support of local people and local produce. They have a ‘Made in Wicklow’ shelf where you can find locally sourced jams, honeys and relishes among many other products.
Crazy Glazing won the Best New Business Award, sponsored by AIB Bank. Datatrails were the runners-up.
The Best SME Award, sponsored by Bank of Ireland, was awarded to Laztech IT. The runner-up was Ray of Sunshine Morning and Afterschool Services.
Best Eating Establishment/Hospitality/ Pub Award, sponsored by Wicklow Hire and Sales, was won by Vital Health Cafe. La Metisse Food was the runner-up.
An award for Honouring Innovation and Entrepreneurship, sponsored by Herbst Software, was won by In Good Company/ Workspace.
Wicklow Welcomes also received an award for Honouring Excellence in the Community, sponsored by Burke Oil. They are a community group set up to provide a warm welcome and support to the asylum seekers being housed in the direct provision centre in the Grand Hotel.
A Special Recognition Award, sponsored by Wicklow Enterprise Park, was won by John and Colm Smith of Smith Electrical.
