All the colour from the cross country racing

A fantastic day’s racing unfolded in Roundwood last Sunday when the Wicklow Even Ages and Noice Cross Country Championsh­ips took place.

A host of future starts flew around then course from under 6 to under 18 before the competitio­n kicked into the Junior and novice divisions.

In the under-18 girls there was a Greystones one-two with Abbie Tyrrell coming home first and Megan O’Brien finishing in second, with Aimee Bell King of Inbhear Dee in third place.

Joseph O’Shea from Ashfrod AC claimed the under-18 boys crown when he finished ahead of Joe Dowd of Greystones and District.

It was on to the Junior women then where victory went to Kilcoole AC’s Sarah O’Connor with Greystones and District taking the silver and bronze to help them to the team title as well.

It was a repeat of the under-18 boys result in the Junior men with Joseph O’Shea ahead of JoeDowd.

Emily Ryan of Parnell AC won the novice women’s race ahead of Ashford AC’s Rebecca Harris and Parnall AC’s Debbie Griffin.

In the novice men it was a good day for Inbhear Dee’s Robin Mooney who came home in front of Kilcoole’s Andrew Lawless and Parnell AC’s Patrick Kinsella. Well done to all athletes.
