€17,000 handed over to hospice

FUNDS RAISED BY RECYCLING CENTRE AND DIP IN THE NIP

- By EIMEAR DODD

WICKLOW Hospice was recently presented with a whooping €17,000 from two separate fundraising events.

Avoca Recycling Centre recently handed over an amazing €3,700 to the hospice team. Andrew Kinsella and Miley Doyle from Avoca Recycling handed over the cheque to Sinead Tarmey and Bill Porter of Wicklow Hospice.

The donation was raised from the proceeds of clothes recycling which takes place at the facility.

Everyone involved with the recycling centre expressed heartfelt thanks to everybody who cleared out their wardrobes and used the clothes recycling facility at the Avoca Recycling and also in Rathdrum to support their endeavours.

The support has ensured that fantastic amounts of money is raised for various charities, including the Wicklow Hospice. Thanks were also extended to Wicklow County Council for their support of the recycling centre.

Meanwhile, €13,000 has been raised by the first male Dip in the Nip for Wicklow Hospice.

Organisers expressed their thanks to all those who took part and to everyone who sponsored them. The event raised an amazing €13,500 so far, but the final total is expected to be higher.

Planning for next year’s Dip in the Nip for the Wicklow Hospice is already underway. The event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, September 13 2020 and organisers are hoping to attract an even bigger crowd next year.

Construction of the facility is due to finish this month, with fitout to follow.
