East Glendalough School
JUNIOR CYCLE RESULTS
The Junior Cycle results in East Glendalough were excellent. Students have acquitted themselves brilliantly - it is great to see so many reaping the rewards of the hard work that they (and their teachers and parents!) put into the Junior Cycle. Success is not automatic, and the high level of honors grades at all levels is a testament to a year group who have huge ability and the work rate and desire to succeed. Well done to all!
SPORTS HALL FUNDRAISING
This week has been another action packed adventure for out TY’s. Starting on Monday with a very interesting and humbling talk from Darragh Whelan from the Hope foundation who gave a talk on the work of the charity over in Kolkotta and how the money from the Butlers Hope chocolate bars gets distributed.
Adventure sports groups braved the cold waters of Devils Glen to abseil, which, despite some slippy conditions underfoot proved to be an exhilarating experience for all.
The bake Off crowd wowed with their pizza making skills with some seriously sumptuous crowd pleasers on display.
Sports appreciation tried their hands at Greco Roman wrestling no less and the car restoration group tried, somewhat unsuccessfully to change the tyre and a rather unobliging Land-rover Defender!
Elsewhere the school improvement crowd have put in sterling work on the new stage floor which was finished and painted just in the nick of time for prize night.
Finally the Zoology students had the amazing opportunity of a personal tour around East Coast Nature by Dr Stephen Newton. This involved mist nets, bird ringing, behavioral studies and a detailed look at the conservation work being undertaken by the every resourceful staff and volunteers up there.
