ALZHEIMER’S/ DEMENTIA SOCIETY

We meet every Friday at 11 a.m. in the Parkview Hotel Newtownmou­ntkennedy. It is an opportunit­y for family members and carers to bring their loved ones for a coffee and a chat. Its open to people in the surroundin­g areas towns and villages.

NEWTOWN JUNIORS FC

The under-11s (proudly sponsored by Real Debt Solutions) were in sizzling form as they routed table toppers Shillelagh Navy on a 7-0 scoreline. Ryan Collins scored some stunning goals in a five-goal haul while Aidan Heffernan and Max Roche (who had for most of the game played in goal) added the other two goals. On the day it was a tremendous team performanc­e from the under-11s.

The under-12s kept up their recent good run going with a 3-0 win in the shield at home to Greystones A Goals from Jake Robertson, Cathal O’Toole and Cormac Chance secured all the points. Among those who starred were Cillian Coffey, Rose Kelly Tynan and Keira Farrelly.

Our ever-popular Developmen­t Squad returned in the last few weeks after the summer break. All boys and girls from five to seven years are very welcome to attend and can contact any coach or committee member for further informatio­n. Depending on weather conditions, this determines if the DS goes outdoors/ indoors.

The following are the fixtures for the weekend Saturday/Sunday, October 19/20: under-eights at home to Carnew FC ko Sunday at 11.15 a.m.; under-nines at home to Wicklow Rovers ko to be confirmed; under-10s away to Roundwood ko to be confirmed; under-11s away to Greystones Green ko to be confirmed; under-12s away to Shillelagh Utd ko to be confirmed; under-13s – Fixture to be confirmed (Fixtures and KO Times are subject to change)

Our Last Man Standing competitio­n is back this week with the week three fixtures after the Internatio­nal break. Week three fixtures will be for the weekend of Sat.19th/Sun. October 20 and we will have 41 Players at the starting

CLOTHING COLLECTION

Thank you to everyone who donated their unwanted clothing to Newtown Primary School’s Clothing Collection. €400.80 was raised for our local School. Thank you again for your support.

CUPS AGAINST CANCER – THANK YOU

What fantastic support for our Cups against Cancer coffee morning. An amazing €2,166 was raised so far for the Irish Cancer Society – the work they do plays a vital part in the lives of people and families living with Cancer.

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who came along, donated, bought tickets, cakes and donated prizes – your support and generosity knows no bounds – our community is simply the best.

Parkview Hotel – Aaron, Cillian and team you went above and beyond to make the day perfect we cannot thank you enough.

The fabulous Daniela Turcanu Mua for her stunning make up demo and Bernie Kenny her model looked great.

Francis and Tracy White Hamilton for the inspiratio­nal Rocks, Gary Prunty for his very kindly donated photo frame which was a big hit. Big thanks to Darren in Centra Kilcoole.
