THURSDAY, OCTOBER 24 COFFEE MORNING

Crossbridge Social and Swimming Club will be hosting a coffee morning, brimming with sweet treats, at the Courthouse Arts Centre in Tinahely from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

PARANOIA

Paranoia, the terrifying, adult-only scare house, returns at Glenart Outdoors from 7.20 p.m. to 9 p.m. Enter the old abandoned asylum and experience over ten terrifying scares, including two new ones for 2019. Not suitable for under-13s. Tickets cost €20 and early booking is advised.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25 HALLOWE’EN DISCO

There will a trail of gruesome ghouls, sensational superheroes and creepy cartoon characters heading for Annacurra Community Hall this evening, as a children’s Hallowe’en disco takes place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Hosted by Annacurra NS Parents Association, there will be music, spot prizes, a tuc shop and tea/coffee. Admission is €5 per child or €10 per family.

SPOOKY FANCY DRESS DISCO

A spooky, Hallowe’en fancy dress disco will take place in St Joseph’s Hall, Blessington, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The disco is for children from third class to sixth class and all local schools are welcome. There will be prizes for the best dressed. Admission is €10 (paid at the door).

HALLOWE’EN DISCO

There will be fancy dress for all as Crossbridge Hall hosts a Hallowe’en disco from 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. There will be treats, Hallowe’en games and a raffle in aid of Crossbridge NS. Entry is €5 for children (adults are free), €12 for a family of three or €15 for a family of four.

BOOK LAUNCH

Conor W O’Brien will launch his new book ‘Ireland Through the Birds: Journeys in Search of a Wild Nation’ in Bridge Street Books, Wicklow town, at 7 p.m. The guest speaker will be Niall Hatch from BirdWatch Ireland.

RACE NIGHT

A race night in aid of Wicklow Dementia Support will take place at the Martello from 7 p.m. until late. There will be a prosecco reception and finger foods during the intermission. Races are being sponsored for €150 and horses can be purchased for €25. There will be prizes for winning horse owners and prizes for best dressed.

QUIZ NIGHT

A quiz will take place in the Coach Inn, Bray, at 8 p.m. to raise money for Bray Seniors Community Christmas party. The cost of entry is €20 for a table of four. There will be spot prizes and a raffle.

80S AND 90S NIGHT

There will be an 80s and 90s fancy dress party at The Anchor in Bray at 8 p.m. in aid of Wicklow Homeless Five Loaves. The event is being organised by ‘Smiley’s Charity Events’ in memory of Sean ‘Smiley’ Madden. There will be prizes for best dressed and a raffle. Donations can also be made at idonate.ie. THOMAS GABRIEL

Thomas Gabriel, who is the eldest grandson of Johnny Cash, will perform at 8 p.m. in the Mermaid Arts Centre in Bray. Thomas is a prolific songwriter. His own music brings to mind the likes of Steve Earle, Townes Van Zandt and Tom Russell. Tickets cost €20 or €18 concession and are available from the Mermaid.

TABLE QUIZ

Roundwood Golf Society is holding its annual table quiz in aid of Roundwood senior citizens Christmas party in Kavanagh’s Vartry House at 8.30 p.m. There will be a prize of €100 for the winning table while a raffle will take place and there will be spot prizes up for grabs.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 26 HALLOWE’EN ART

Courthouse Arts Centre in Tinahely will host two Hallowe’en art workshops. The first is for six to eight year olds from 10 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. and the second is for for 9 year olds and older from 12 p.m. to 1.30 p.m. The cost is €10. Booking is essential at www. courthousearts.ie.

BRAMBLES AND COOKIES

Brambles annual cookie creations and stories have become very popular with the young children at this time of year and takes place at Lady Beit’s Pantry in Russborough House and Parklands. It costs €7 per child and takes place from 11 a.m.

TRICK OR TREAT ON THE STREET

The Foroige Way Project, in conjunction with local retailers, is running its free annual children’s Trick or Treat on The Street in Wicklow town. Children must be accompanied by adults as they follow the clues that lead them around the town and towards some Hallowe’en treats. Registration takes place from 11 a.m. to noon in the De La Salle Pastoral Centre.

Glenroe farm will host some ‘a-maze-ing’ fun this Hallowe’en, including Spellbound in the maize maze at 11 a.m., 12.30 p.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. There will also be the haunted cottage, face painting, nature walk with fairy garden, farm animals and pets and more. The farm is open from 10 a.m. with last admissions at 4 p.m. The maze game is a ticketed events and participants will be issued at the admissions desk on arrival. Hidden Valley Holiday Park in Rathdrum is hosting this fun event (which is not scary) for all ages. FUNDRAISING CONCERT

A Songs of Praise service will take place at St Mary’s Church in Baltinglass at 3.30 p.m. St Mary’s group of parishes is hosting the event as the main fundraiser to repair the windows damaged at the church during the summer. Among the guest musicians will be the Bishop. The theme is Reformation and Ecumenism and will celebrate the musical traditions that have come out of the different reformed traditions, as well as the music and hymns we all share in common.

CANDLELIT WALK

The annual candlelit walk in aid of St Mary’s Church in Blessington and the Irish Cancer Society will take place at 6 p.m. at Russborough House. The cost of entry is €5 per person or €20 for a car.
