- By MYLES BUCHANAN

A NEW website has been launched for Wicklow town, providing hundreds of pages detailing places to eat, drink, stay, see, and do, and much more.

Wicklowtown.ie was officially launched on Wednesday night in Marine House. John Slattery Chair of the Digital Group from Wicklow Town Team acted as MC at the launch event.

Rosemary Kavanagh, from the Digital group gave a speech before leading everyone on a tour through the colossal website.

‘Wicklow Town Team felt that the county town needed a web presence and that Wicklowtown. ie would be the go- to site for those visiting and living in Wicklow town,’ said Rosemary. ‘With that in mind, the Digital sub-team was created with John Slattery as chair and Denis Vickers, Joe

Quinn, Matt Forkin and I making up the team.’

Everything from Wicklow’s local clubs and its current events are covered across a mobile-responsive and easily navigable website that puts the whole town in the palm of your hand.

Dave Shannon, Chair of Wicklow Town Team, gave an overview on the projects that the Town Team are currently working on

He said: ‘Wicklow Town Team is always open to new ideas and new people getting involved.’

Wicklow Town Team successfully applied for funding under the Rural Development Programme (LEADER) through County Wicklow Partnership and the LCDC for this website, along with securing sponsorship from Burke Oil and Wicklow Town & District Chamber. The website was developed by In Good Company, which will also be responsible for maintaining the site.
