PARKING TAG FOR WICKLOW

MOTORISTS can now make life a little easier by using Parking Tag, the cashless mobile parking payments system in Wicklow town.

The service is designed to take advantage of mobile technology allowing motorists to park in a most hassle-free way, via the Parking Tag app, by SMS or phone call.

Paying for parking in Wicklow is now faster and easier with Parking Tag. The cashless parking solution allows motorists to park by phone in the town and extend their parking without returning to their vehicle.

Once registered, customers can park immediatel­y and can take advantage of day rate parking, where available.

Several One-Off payment options are also available by credit and debit card, online, by SMS or through the 3 and Vodafone Charge to Mobile service.

Speaking on behalf of Wicklow Municipal District, Cathaoirle­ach Cllr Shay Cullen, said: ‘With mobile payments technology at your fingertips, motorists have a convenient, easy form of payment which the Wicklow Municipal District hopes will encourage more people to park in Wicklow Town, with a positive knock on effect for local businesses.’

As per the Parking Bye Laws 2017 the following applies all year round in Wicklow town: Free parking between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. each morning; 1.15 minutes courtesy period applies for all vehicles legally parked in a designated Pay and Display parking bay at any time of the day; Wicklow town continues to offer two hours free parking on Saturdays and free parking all day on Sundays

The traffic wardens monitor parking and enforce all other aspects of the parking bye laws in relation to illegal parking.

THE Wicklow Walking Festival takes place this weekend from a base at the Brockagh Resource Centre.

Taking place from Friday, October 25, to Monday, October 28, the festival will feature a selection of different walks, with many going through the national park. All walks are led by experience­d leaders who will provide informatio­n on local history, flora and fauna. The walks range from challengin­g, moderate and easy. There will also be a night walk on the Friday night.

Walks have to be booked in advance and the cost ranges form €15 to €25, depending on the walk.
